Here, the editor has gathered a team of international experts to present the latest advances in the field of laser imaging and manipulation techniques. The result is broad coverage of the interactions with biological samples to perform novel optical manipulation operations, both on the cellular and tissue levels.
Of interest to physicists working and researching laser tissue mechanisms, cell biologists investigating new imaging and manipulation operation on the cellular level, medical doctors working with new laser therapies and diagnostic tools, as well as engineers developing new technologies in the field of optics and lasers.
Spis treści:
Introduction
1. Modern Techniques for non linear laser imaging (Watt Webb)
2. Interactions light tissue (V. Tuchin)
3. Interaction pulsed light molecule: photochemical and photophysics effects (A. Vogel)
4. Optical manipulations in living cells and organisms (L. Sacconi, A. Masi and F.S. Pavone)
5. Laser uncaging (Rafael Yuste)
6. Optical stimulation of membrane potential (Claus Peter Richter)
7: Photo dynamic therapy (Brian Wilson)

Conclusion
Nota biograficzna:
Prof. Francesco Saverio Pavone obtained his Laurea degree in Physics at the University of Florence in 1992, and in 1993 his Ph.D. in Optics at the National Institute for Optics, Florence, Italy. In 1997 he spent one year and half as "Maitre de Conferences Associe au College de France", Paris, with experimental work at the "Ecole Normale Superieure" (ENS) of Paris with Prof. Claude Cohen–Tannoudji (1997 Nobel price in Physics). In 1998 he became associate Professor of physics at the department of physics of the University of Perugia, Italy and Scientific director of the
section of Atomic and Molecular Physics at the European Laboratory for Non–Linear Spectroscopy (LENS), Florence, Italy. In 2001 he moved as associate professor to the university of Florence and became responsible for the "biophysics laboratory" of the European Laboratory for Non–Linear Spectroscopy. In 2004 he became full professor. Currently he is directing a research group working in the field of biophotonics on single molecule biophysics, microscopy imaging–spectroscopy techniques, biomedical imaging, laser manipulation of bio–samples.
