The study of nonlinear dynamics and noise in optical devices and systems is relevant to very practical technological applications such as compact disk players, fiber optic communications, and the development of optical switching devices and laser arrays. Nota biograficzna:
Dr, Atsushi Uchida received his Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Keio University in Yokohama, Japan , in 2000. He is the assistant professor at the Department of Electronics and Computer Systems at Takushoku University in Tokyo, Japan. He has spent his career working for the ATR Adaptive Communications Research Laboratories, Kyoto, Japan, and the University of Maryland at College Park, Maryland, USA. He is currently working on synchronization of chaotic lasers, its applications for optical communication, and secure key generation with chaotic lasers. Dr. Uchida has authored 47 scientific publications and has received 8 scientific awards. He is a member of the Optical Society of America, IEEE Lasers and Electro–Optic Society (IEEE/LEOS), and American Physical Society.
