Nota biograficzna:
Ado Jorio is Associate Professor at the Physics Dept. of the University of Minas Gerais, Brazil, where he also earned his PhD. A long assignment has been e.g. as Post–doctoral fellow at MIT, USA. He has authored and co–authored several book chapters and books. A large number of organization and board memberships rounds off his record.
Mildred Dresselhaus received her Ph.D. at the University of Chicago. During that time she switched from research on superconductivity to magneto–optics, and contributed to a fundamental understanding of the electronic structure of semi–metals. In 1973, she was appointed to The Abby Rockefeller Mauze chair, endowed in support of the scholarship of women in science and engineering. She is now Professor at MIT, USA. Together with different co–authors, especially with A. Jorio, she has authored a large array of books and countless breakthrough papers.
Riichiro Saito received PhD degree from the University of Tokyo. After being a Research Associate at the University of Tokyo and an Associate Professor at the University of Electro–Communication in Tokyo, he became Professor at Tohoku University in Sendai, Japan.
Rodrigo B. Capaz is Assoc. Professor at the University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He received his PhD from MIT, USA, was Visiting Scholar at U. C. Berkeley and is Research Fellow of the Brazilian National Research Council.
The joint research focus is the investigation of nanostructured systems.
