"An excellent introduction into the biology of prion diseases in both humans and animals and describes a variety of important model systems." –Journal of Chemical Neuroanatomy, May 2009
This 2 volume set is a collection of outstanding contributions in the field of neurobiology. All of the articles have been extracted directly from the successful Robert A. Meyers′ Encyclopedia of Molecular Cell Biology and Molecular Medicine. With topics on cell biology and biochemistry of the nervous system, neurodevelopmental biology as well as diseases, Neurobiology: From Molecular Basis to Disease is an essential read.
Hallmark features: Uniform structure of the articles makes them very easy to useIncludes an article on "Prions" authored by Nobel laureate Stanley PrusinerDesigned for readers at any level of expertiseEvery chapter usefully includes: a keyword glossarya concise summary of the articlecomprehensive references to guide the reader deeper into the literature Derived from the Encyclopedia of Molecular Cell Biology and Molecular Medicine, the most comprehensive and most detailed treatment of molecular biology, cell biology and molecular medicine available – designed in collaboration with a founding board of 12 Nobel laureates, including the 2007 Nobel Prize winner in medicine, Sir Martin Evans
Praise for the Encyclopedia of Molecular Cell Biology and Molecular Medicine:
"...highly valuable and recommendable both for libraries and for laboratory use." –FEBS Letters
"This series can be recommended without hesitation to a broad readership including students and qualified researchers... articles... set–up facilitates easy reading and rapid understanding... overwhelming amount of valuable data." –Molecular Biology Reports
"... It goes without saying that no library c
an afford to be without this [Encyclopedia]. Everyone working in the areas of molecular biology, genome research, medical science, or clinical research needs to have access to these volumes..." –Angewandte Chemie

Nota biograficzna:
Robert A. Meyers obtained his Ph.D. in Chemistry at the University of California at Los Angeles. He was a post–doctoral fellow at the California Institute of Technology and has more than 17 patents, 50 technical papers and 12 books to his name. As Editor–in–Chief he conceived and edited several ambitious multivolume reference works, e.g. the Encyclopedia of Analytical Chemistry (Wiley), the preceding Encyclopedia of Molecular Biology and Molecular Medicine (Wiley–VCH) and the Encyclopedia of Physical Science and Technology (Academic Press).
