Electrospinning is the most versatile technique for the preparation of continuous nanofibers obtained from numerous materials, including polymers, metals, and ceramics. Electrospinning summarizes the state–of–the art in electrospinning with detailed coverage of the various techniques, material systems, and their resulting fiber structures and properties, theoretical aspects, and applications. Throughout the book, the current status of knowledge is introduced with a critical view on accomplishments and novel perspectives. An experimental section gives hands–on guidance to beginners and experts alike, including materials scientists, chemists, and physicists.

Nota biograficzna:
Andreas Greiner is full professor for polymer chemistry and technology and Philipps University of Marburg, Germany. He received his PhD in Chemistry from the same in 1988, then went on to a postdoctoral stay at the Materials Department of the University of California at Santa Barbara. In 1990 he returned to Marburg as research associate in the Department of Chemistry, and accomplished his habilitation in polymer chemistry in 1995. In 1999, he joined the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz as associate professor for organic chemistry and polymer chemistry and became head of the TransMIT Center for Plastic Science. Since 2000,
Joachim Wendorff is full professor for physical chemistry and polymer physics at the Philipps–University in Marburg since 1991, and he is also a head of the TransMIT Center for Polymer Science. He received his PhD degree in physics in Marburg in 1969. He spent two years as postdoc at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, followed by four years as research associate at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz. From 1976 to 1991, he held the position of head of the physics group at the German Plastics Institute (DKI) at Darmstadt Technical University. During this time he accomplished his habilitation (Mainz 1984) in physical chemistry.
Seeram Ramakrishna is professor of mechanical engineering and bioengineering at the National University of Singapore and Co–Director of the NUS Nanoscience & Nanotechnology Initiative (NUSNNI). He has contributed over 50 publications to the field of nanofibers and received more than 600 citations for the last 5 years. Seeram serves on the editorial boards of twelve international journals and is a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), UK; Institution of Engineers Singapore (IES); Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining (IMMM), UK; and the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE), USA. He is a recipient of the IES Prestigious Engineering Achievement Award and ASEAN Engineering Award.
