Originally developed to meet the specialized needs of power plants and petroleum refineries, predictive control technology can now be found in a wide variety of application areas. It has become the first choice for control strategy especially in the process industry, since it can intuitively and explicitly handle systems with input and output constraints.
Describing the principles and applications in a simple and lively manner, this practical book considers such issues as the handling of discontinuous control valves, non–linearities and numerical problems.
From the contents:
∗ Basics
∗ On–off control
∗ Linear SISO processes
∗ Dynamic matrix control
∗ Predictive PI(D) Control Algorithms
∗ Linear MIMO processes
∗ Estimation of the prediction equations
∗ Nonlinear SISO processes
∗ Industrial Program Packages
With its many examples and several industrial case studies, including the injection molding machine, waste water treatment and steam consumption in a stripping column, this is invaluable reading for both students and industrial users in a wide variety of application areas, such as chemicals, food processing, automotive, aerospace, metallurgy or pulp and paper.
