After working in Dyckerhoff & Widmann′s design office for five years, Dipl.–Ing. Ernst–August Kracke was deputy department head for bridge design at the State Authority for Road Construction in Hanover, Lower Saxony. He also taught inspectors and other employees at the state authority about bridge design.
Dipl.–Ing. Klaus Lodde served as seit manager for Philip Holzmann for eight years before becoming deputy department head for construction and public procurement at the State Authority for Road Construction in Hanover, Lower Saxony.
Both authors have been members in various working committees for technical codes at the state and federal levels.
Passing on their practical experience gained by actually building bridges and being thoroughly acquainted with knowledge gaps was the cause for both authors to write this practically oriented book.
