The automotive lubricants arena has undergone significant changes since the first edition of this book was published in 1996. Environmental concerns, particularly reagarding improvement of ar quality have been important in recent years, Reduced emmissions are directly related to changes in lubricant specifications and quality, and the second edition of the Automotive Lubricants Reference Book reflects the urgency of such matters by including updated and expanded detail.
This second edition also considers the recent phenomenon of increased consolidation within the oil and petroleum additive arenas, which has resulted in fewer poeple for research, devlopment, and implementation, along with fewer competing companies. About the Authors.

Nota biograficzna:
Roger Haycock spent more than 35 years working for the Exxon group. For the past 5 years, he has been an independent consultant on fuel and lubricant topics. He is also an active representative of the European petroleum additives industry.
John Hillier spent more than 30 years working for British Petroleum at the BP Research Center. In addition to lecturing, he provides advice on specialist fuel and lubricant evaluations for oil industry clients and resolves lubricant–related issues in support of new engine technologies.
