The two volumes of The coal handbook present a systematic and comprehensive review of coal production and utilisation in industrial applications, from power plants to steel and iron making, with emphasis on cleaner production. Volume 1 Coal production opens with chapters on coal characterisation. Following sections address important coal extraction and preparation technologies and the coal supply chain. After an introductory section exploring the social and economic value of coal and emissions from coal utilisation, Volume 2 concentrates on global coal production and coal use in industry.
