Sources and Debates in Modern British History is asourcebook designed for undergraduate students taking surveycourses in the modern period. The collection illuminates andextends the reader s understanding of the themes at the heartof Britain s transformation over the course of the last threecenturies.

The book is arranged in three chronological parts and includesover 180 sources. Each document is introduced with a briefcontextual headnote and a list of discussion questions. A selectionof counterfactual questions is also provided, as wellas an extensive bibliography. Each chapter identifies and providesbackground information about important historical debates, whichintroduce students to historiography and illustrate how historiansactually work.
