Reach for this book whenever a sick or injured tortoise comes into the surgery. Essentials of Tortoise Medicine and Surgery is designed as a concise quick reference for the busy practitioner, covering everything from species identification to common basic surgery for tortoises and freshwater turtles.
The first section contains a guide to the common species, including identification, sexing, environmental and dietary needs; as well as a guide to equipment, nursing care and basic reception triage. The second section comprises history and clinical examination techniques, from basic handling, clinical and injection techniques, to anaesthesia, imaging and basic surgery techniques, and clinical pathology. The final section provides a clinical guide sorted by presenting sign, and including differential diagnoses.
