Ethics for Psychologists, 2nd Edition is a comprehensive handbook covering the full range of ethical challenges that confront today′s working psychologists –– both in their practice and in research. Explication of the development of ethical theory and its philosophical underpinnings is included, along with contemporary international covenants and formal ethical codes from around the world, including the UK, Europe, the U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
While the book continues to look closely at common cross–disciplinary ethical concerns such as bodily contact, the use of aversion procedures and referrals, the new edition includes material on virtue ethics, ′whistleblowing,′ and issues reflecting new technology such as Internet ethics (including issues related to pornography and sex offenders) and Web research issues. It covers new topics, including quantifying ethics, and the merit of ethical gradualism. There is also a greatly expanded section featuring case studies and suggested resolutions encountered in all types of practices, including business consulting, counseling, clinical, forensic, military, and research psychology for immediate application.
For teaching purposes this work is divided into sections to which instructors can readily refer: this is supplemented with a comprehensive list of references, and a wide–ranging index.
With its international flavour, and focus on ethical standards and not just formal legal compliance, Ethics for Psychologists, 2nd Edition is an invaluable resource for practicing psychologists and students everywhere, providing the guiding principles that enhance professionalism in an increasingly complex world.
