Keith Oatley is Director of the Cognitive Science Program,University of Toronto. He is the author of more than 130 scholarlyarticles and seven books, including Emotions: A BriefHistory (Blackwell, 2004), and two novels.

Dacher Keltner is professor of psychology at Universityof California at Berkeley, and the author of more than 80 scholarlyarticles and one book. He received the 2000 Templeton PositivePsychology Prize for Excellence in Research, and twouniversity–wide teaching awards at UC Berkeley.

Jennifer M. Jenkins is Professor in the Department ofHuman Development and Applied Psychology at the University ofToronto. She is co–editor, with Keith Oatley, of Human Emotions:A Reader (Blackwell, 1998). She now heads a large researchproject on gene–environment interactions in children.
