Corporate leaders are facing many new challenges: lack of confidence in corporate governance; flat economies throughout the industrialized world; the effects of increased globalization; and dramatic changes in employees’ working lives, to name but a few. This topical book looks at the requirements for effective leadership in these turbulent times.
The book is written by a team of leading international experts who review the latest thinking on effective management strategies for the new world of work. Leaders of tomorrow, they propose, must manage their own performance and development, must create highly–motivated and skilful human resources, must lead on issues such as governance and ethics, and must lead change. Leading in Turbulent Times is the third in a series of books published by Blackwell, all of which tackle the challenges faced by organizations today, organizational responses to these challenges, and the effects of these responses on shareholders. The previous two books in the series are The Organization in Crisis (2000) and The New World of Work (2002).
