Oilseed Crops: Yield and Adaptations under Environmental Stress

The improvement of crop species has been a basic pursuit since cultivation began thousands of years ago. Wheat, corn, rice, potato and legumes are expected to lead as the most important crops in the effort to feed an ever–increasing world population. Due to environmental fluctuations, oil seed crops are often exposed to different environmental stresses leading to decreased yield and problems in the growth and development of the crops.

Oil Seed Crops: Yield and Adaptations under Environmental Stress describes the physiobiochemical, molecular and omic approaches and responses of oil seed crops towards environmental stress. The book presents the use of different oil seed crops for human consumption as well as for industry. Molecular mechanisms are explained detailing how these plants adapt themselves under various environmental stress conditions, and the role of different phytohormones in improving yield of oil seed crops under environmental stress are also discussed.
