Selma Kurra is a Professor in the Department of Environmental Engineering at Bahcesehir University and is also an Acoustics Consultant for dBKES Engineering Ltd. She currently teaches a course on noise pollution and her research projects focus on noise control and building acoustics. She is also a founding member of the Turkish Acoustical Society. Professor Kurra has conducted a number of research studies on traffic noise modelling, noise barriers, noise impact studies, environmental noise control and sound insulation that have been supported by  WHO, UNDP, World Bank, TUBITAK and other Turkish governmental organizations. She has also worked as a research fellow at various institutions including Purdue University (USA), University of Southampton (UK), and Kobe University (Japan).
