"Today, the role of CIO is hands down, without exception, mission critical to the company. You are the force for driving competitive advantage, yet leaders in IT are still fighting for a seat at the table. With this book, Larry has earned his place as a thought leader in IT, by giving us an enormously valuable, step–by–step guide to becoming a strategic asset for your company. In it he proves that CIOs don′t need to lead through a cult of personality. You won′t be able to put this book down and you′ll want to pass it on to your CEO, executive team, and board of directors. Bravo, Larry."—Suzanne Bates, author of Motivate Like a CEO: Communicate Your Strategic Vision and Inspire People to Act!
"Lessons in IT Transformation is packed with real–life examples and commonsense advice for every CIO and IT leader struggling with making the transition from tech guru to business leader. Author Larry Bonfante speaks clearly and honestly about the challenges that IT executives face in our changing corporate dynamic, in which technology touches upon all areas of the organization and IT is seen as a strategic advantage. He offers practical advice based on three decades of experience—the kind you won′t learn in business school. His are lessons that any IT leader can put into practice today to enhance business operations now and position their organization for future success."—Su san Nunziata, Editor in Chief, CIO Insight
"Reading Lessons in IT Transformation is like having a heart–to–heart conversation with your favorite coach. As an experienced CIO and popular industry speaker, Larry delivers practical yet heartfelt advice on developing leadership potential, business vision and, ultimately, personal success in the challenging role of CIO."—Maryfran Johnson, Editor in Chief, CIO magazine
"Whether you are a sitting CIO or an aspiring CIO, this book offers practical advice on how to build alignment with your teams and with management. Larry understands that communication is a key tool in a CIO′s playbook, and he filled the chapters with no–nonsense lessons on how CIOs can manage their message across the enterprise."—Gregory Fell, CIO, Terex Corporation
"To the technologist who′s worked hard to attain a coveted CIO position comes an even trickier challenge: how to succeed in the role when so many others fail. As Larry Bonfante explains in this valuable book for CIOs and those aspiring to be CIOs, success often means focusing not more, but less, on what has always worked: technical prowess and diligent work. Instead, it requires new dimensions: leadership, vision, relationship management and much more, all discussed with appropriate and often unforgettable examples."—Hank Zupnick, CIO, General Electric Real Estate
