The benefits of having skilled nurses working in prisons have been noted in various Government reports over the past few years. This book is the first applied specifically to nurses working in prisons and reflects the particular skills needed to be a prison nurse. The environment is radically different to other health care settings and the nurse–patient relationship and its boundaries are of paramount importance.
Here is a book covering the range of professional issues in prison nursing with contributions from experts in the field. Coverage includes the role of the nurse in prison health care, policy development, the dynamics of prison culture, legalities affecting nurses working in prisons, quality issues, and educational developments within the field.
