A Practical Handbook for Community Health Nurses: Working with Children and their Parents is designed to provide nurses and their students with an up–to–date reference source, bringing together the available evidence on a range of issues central to their work with children and parents. The focus is normal, healthy children and the book considers common areas of practice as it relates to children (especially those under five years of age) and their families. This work historically relates to health visiting practice, but today may be conducted by a variety of nurses working in the community or in health centres.
Amongst the topics covered are the social and emotional framework within which children grow and develop, issues concerning food and families (breast feeding, artificial feeding, weaning and family nutrition), dental health, immunisation and the management of some common childhood problems.
