This book is written specifically to be of practical help to vets in general practice and also to students. Covering the whole field of equine disease, diagnosis and management in a practical, semi–note form, the book gives the basic information that the busy practitioner actually needs, allowing rapid reference and easy understanding, taking the reader concisely through the diagnostic process up to treatment and prognosis.
Chapters cover each major body system, starting with a general view of history taking, clinical examination, diagnosis and aetiology. Specific diseases are then discussed, most following a standard pattern of clinical signs, diagnosis, treatment, prognosis and prevention. Particularly useful chapters discuss procedures which aid diagnosis, laboratory services and orphan foal rearing. New to this edition is a chapter on the cardiovascular system, improved discussion of neonatal problems, up to date recommendations on notifiable diseases, and extended discussion of hyperlipaemia.
