Modernism

Modernism presents a judicious selection of key worksrelating to literary modernism. Designed to help readers engagewith the major critical debates, particularly how literarymodernism relates to modernity, as well as to other literary andcultural movements, this guide presents a critical history from theearliest reviews to the most recent theoretical statements.

The first of the book′s two sections introduces key issues inmodernism, looking at the way in which modernist writers themselvesunderstood and constructed modernism. The second section exploreshow subsequent generations have built upon these constructions andbrought new interpretations to the subject. Each reading has beencarefully selected for its relevance to the questions surroundingmodernism and for its intelligibility to readers stillfamiliarizing themselves with the modernist canon.
