Time, Family and Community: Perspectives on Family and Community History

Containing a broad range of authoritative articles, some specially commissioned, this book cover several key facets of family and community history. The articles have been chosen with three main aims in mind: To show the historical context of various current preoccupations (for example, do families support each other more or less than in the past?); To survey the research already carried out in the field; To guide and help those who wish to undertake their own research. The volume sets family and community history in a wider context, beyond the personal and the parochial, and develops an understanding of the social and historical patterns and interactions involved.
