Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Lasers (VCSELs) are a unique type of semiconductor laser whose optical output is vertically emitted from the surface as opposed to conventional edge–emitting semiconductor lasers. Nota biograficzna:
SIU FUNG YU is a faculty member of the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He received a PhD in electronic engineering from Cambridge University. His research concentrates on the study of lasing mechanisms in semiconductor materials. Recently, he served as guest coeditor for a special issue of the IEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Quantum Electronics on Optoelectronics Device Modeling. Dr Yu is a senior member of IEEE.
