Architecture for Sport

Architecture for Sport showcases top achievements in international sports architecture of the last ten years, introducing 25 magnificent projects by leading architects throughout the world. These projects represent a new and exciting fusion of architecture with the spirit of engineering, corporate architecture, futuristic design and sport. Each one is described from conception to completion, with detailed texts complemented by high–quality photographs and accurate drawings. The project presentations are supported by specialist contributions by international authors exploring issues such as the relationship between form and temporary/long–term use, and that between building and landscape/town, to name a few. PETER STÜRZEBECHER teaches Architecture at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences and at the Ecole d′Architecture de Nantes. He has devoted himself in recent years to research, development and practice, and especially to the conception and realisation of public, sports and leisure buildings. This book presents the conclusions of his intensive architectural analysis. SIGRID ULRICH is a qualified economist. Since her graduation, she has been working at the Deutsche Journalistenschule (German School of Journalism) as a writer and economic journalist for printed media and radio in Hamburg, Berlin and Vatilieu (France).
