Therapy and Beyond: Counselling Psychology Contributions to Therapeutic and Social Issues presents an overview of the origins, current practices, and potential future developments in the discipline of counselling psychology. In addition to providing a summary of the profession, the book highlights contemporary ′good practice′ techniques utilised in psychological therapy, policy development, and research. It also addresses the contribution that counselling psychology is able to make throughout a wide variety of human services, and the impact it is having on individuals, couples, families, and wider society.
The book also looks to the future and explores exciting new frontiers of therapy and practice that often extend beyond the consulting room. By recognising the valuable contributions of counselling psychology to human wellbeing, Therapy and Beyond reveals the field’s vital new role within mainstream professional psychological practice.
