Troubleshooting the Sequencing Batch Reactor

For years detailed information regarding the biology of the sequencing batch reactor has not been incorporated as much as possible in process control of this wastewater treatment system. Tested in short–course situations by the author over the last fifteen years, this guide gives the operator a new understanding of how the sequencing batch reactor functions, and demonstrates that operators can have greater control over the treatment system than previously thought. While the text is useful for design and consulting engineers, it directs the materials at operators and provides necessary information for understanding biological conditions in the sequencing batch reactor, while reducing the jargon, chemical equations, and kinetics.
