Osteoporosis is a disorder characterized by compromised bone strength that predisposes to an increased risk of fracture. It has been estimated that one in three women and one in twelve men in the UK will experience an osteoporotic related fracture during their lifetime.
Through a series of chapters this book offers a comprehensive overview of pathogenesis and management of osteoporosis. Each chapter is evidence based and factual and serves to provide a strong theoretical background to the subject matter. In addition, some chapters include clinical scenarios that demonstrate the pragmatic clinical approach to the care of the individual.  Where appropriate, existing guidelines are included and summarized for the reader.
